Care & Cleaning
How do I clean my Earthmat?
Wipe the surface with a damp cloth and a small drop of gentle, plant-based soap. Rinse well — no soap residue — then air-dry flat or hang vertically.
- Do use: gentle soap + water; Kinshē Essential Oil Mat Spray for a quick refresh between deep cleans.
- Avoid: harsh chemical cleaners, bleach, isopropyl alcohol — they break down the TPE surface over time.
- Never machine-wash or put it in the dryer.
What about cleaning the MiniMat?
Same routine as the Earthmat — wipe with gentle soap and water, rinse, air-dry. The MiniMat is the same recyclable TPE, so the same care rules apply.
How do I wash the Earthtowel?
The Earthtowel is 100% premium Turkish cotton and machine-washable — just be gentle:
- Machine wash on the delicate cycle, or hand-wash in cool water.
- Skip bleach and fabric softener — they strip the cotton fibers and reduce grip over time.
- Hang-dry indoors to preserve color.
- Every fifth wash: add 1 cup of white vinegar to refresh the fibers and lock in color.
- After drying, a spritz of Kinshē Mat Spray keeps it fresh between washes.
Can I wash my Earthstrap?
Yes — hand-wash only. Submerge in cool water with a small amount of mild soap, gently work it through the fibers, rinse thoroughly, and hang to dry indoors.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which fades the hand-dyed colors. Some color variation between washes is normal — each strap is one of a kind.
Can I leave my mat in the car or dry it in the sun?
Avoid both. Sustained heat — like a parked car in summer — can warp TPE over time. And prolonged direct sunlight can fade colors and stress the materials. Air-dry indoors or in a shaded area and store your mat rolled in a cool spot.
What are the mat sprays for — are they just for cleaning?
They clean, but they're really aromatherapy for your practice. Pure essential oils in a witch-hazel base — no harsh disinfectants, no gym-chemical smell.
- YIN (Calming) — Frankincense, myrrh, cedar & lavender. Best for restorative, Yin, or evening sessions.
- KINDLE (Energizing) — Neroli, lavender, patchouli & chamomile. Great for morning flows or power yoga.
Spritz on your mat, towel, or the air around you. Both sprays are safe on all Kinshē surfaces.
Do the cork yoga blocks need cleaning?
Cork is naturally self-maintaining. It contains Suberin, a natural resin that resists mold, mildew, bacteria, and fungus on its own. A simple wipe-down with a damp cloth after practice is all they need. Avoid soaking them in water or using chemical sprays directly on the surface.
Sizing & Fit
What are the Earthmat's dimensions? Will it fit a taller person?
The Earthmat is 24 in × 70 in, 5 mm thick, 3.6 lb. It comfortably fits practitioners up to around 6 feet. If you're over 6 ft, email us at kinshe@kinsheyoga.com and we'll advise.
How big is the MiniMat?
The MiniMat is 24 in × 12 in, 5 mm thick — same width as the Earthmat, roughly a third of the length. Sized to cushion knees in a low lunge, elbows in forearm plank, or forearms in dolphin pose. Rolls up inside a full-sized mat so you carry both in one bag.
Will the Earthtowel cover my mat?
Yes — the Earthtowel is 35 in × 72 in, wider and longer than the Earthmat. Lay it over any standard yoga mat and tuck the corners underneath to keep it anchored without bunching mid-flow.
Will the Earthstrap fit around my rolled yoga mat?
Yes — the Earthstrap is 70 in (178 cm) long and designed to loop around all standard-sized rolled yoga mats, including the Earthmat. Thread through the D-ring, pull snug, and it becomes a hands-free over-the-shoulder mat carrier.
What size are the cork yoga blocks?
Each block is 9 in × 5.5 in × 3.5 in, 1.5 lb — the standard yoga block size. They come as a set of two and include a guidebook with 46 block-assisted poses.
How big is the mat spray bottle?
Each bottle holds 4 fl oz (118 mL) and measures 5.25 in × 2 in — compact enough for your mat bag. Both YIN and KINDLE come in the same size.
Grip & Performance
Is the Earthmat actually non-slip, or will I slide around?
The Earthmat is engineered with an anti-slip textured surface that holds through fast-moving flows and hot yoga. The TPE provides what we call the "Goldilocks zone" — soft enough to protect joints, firm enough to stay planted.
Like any mat, it performs best when hands and feet are dry at the start. If you sweat heavily, pairing it with the Earthtowel adds moisture-activated grip on top.
The Earthtowel slides at the beginning of practice. Is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong — this is by design. The Earthtowel uses moisture-activated traction: the more you sweat, the more it grips. In cooler practices or before you work up a sweat, mist the towel lightly with water before you start. That activates the grip immediately.
Does the Earthmat have a chemical smell when it arrives?
No — the Earthmat passes the "Smell Test." It's made from non-toxic, latex-free TPE with no VOCs or phthalates. No off-gassing, no chemical smell. Unroll it and breathe easy.
How firm are the cork blocks compared to foam or wood?
Cork sits right in the middle — softer than wood, significantly firmer than foam. That balance gives you stability for weight-bearing poses without the hard edge of a wood block. Natural cork texture provides grip so the block stays where you put it. Rounded edges are comfortable under your back or neck in long restorative holds.

Returns & Refunds
What's the return window?
Kinshē accepts returns within 30 days of receiving your order. Items must be unused, unaltered, and in their original packaging with proof of purchase.
How do I start a return?
Email kinshe@kinsheyoga.com with your order number and the reason for the return. We'll send a return authorization code and shipping instructions.
Please don't send items back without contacting us first — unauthorized returns delay your refund.
Do I have to pay for return shipping?
Generally yes — customers cover return shipping costs. The exception: if you received a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, Kinshē covers the return shipping in full.
What if my item arrived damaged or defective?
Contact us immediately at kinshe@kinsheyoga.com. Manufacturing defects are accepted for return even beyond the standard 30-day window, and we cover return shipping. Include your order number and a photo of the issue.
How long do refunds take?
Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll notify you of the decision by email. Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, allow a few to 10 business days for it to appear on your statement.
Can I exchange for a different color or size?
The fastest way is to return your original item and place a new order for what you want. Once the return is received and the refund issued, that credit goes back to your original payment method for your new order.
Are there items that can't be returned?
Custom or personalized orders cannot be returned. All other standard Kinshē products are eligible within 30 days, unused and in original condition.
Lifetime Guarantee
Which products are covered by the Lifetime Guarantee?
What does the Lifetime Guarantee actually cover?
The guarantee covers defects arising from everyday use under normal practice conditions. It does not cover damage from misuse, improper care, accidents, alterations, or negligence — for example, leaving your mat in a hot car or using harsh chemical cleaners on it.
How do I make a Lifetime Guarantee claim?
Email kinshe@kinsheyoga.com with your order information and a description (and photo if possible) of the issue. No formal claim form — just a straightforward email. Our team will assess and respond with next steps.
Why does Kinshē offer a lifetime guarantee when cork and rubber mats don't?
Because the Earthmat is built to be the last mat you'll ever need. Natural rubber and cork mats typically need replacing every 1–3 years. The Earthmat's recyclable TPE is designed for a lifetime of use — and we back that with the guarantee to match. Buy once, practice forever.
Sustainability & Brand Values
Is it true a tree is planted with every order?
Yes. Kinshē partners with One Tree Planted — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on global reforestation. Every purchase plants a living tree automatically. No opt-in, no extra step on your end.
What is TPE and is it actually safe?
TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) is a flexible, rubber-like material that's fundamentally different from PVC. The Earthmat's TPE is:
- Free from PVCs, VOCs, phthalates & allergenic latex
- Non-toxic and body-safe
- 100% recyclable at end of life
- Latex-free — safe for people with latex allergies
Unlike PVC mats that off-gas chemicals, TPE is one of the cleanest mat materials available. Designed to last a lifetime, reducing the waste of replacing mats every few years.
What does "Good. Clean. Fair." mean?
- Good — Mindfully crafted and designed to last. No planned obsolescence.
- Clean — Earth-friendly, non-toxic, re-usable, and low environmental impact.
- Fair — Partnering only with safe manufacturing facilities that pay their workers a living wage.
My Earthstrap looks slightly different from the photo. Is that normal?
Completely normal — and intentional. Each Earthstrap is hand-dyed in Los Angeles in small batches using flower, root, and mineral pigments. Natural dyes produce slight color variations between straps, which means no two are exactly alike. It's a feature, not a flaw.
Where does the cork in the yoga blocks come from?
Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree, grown across Portugal and North Africa. Cork harvesting is uniquely sustainable — the bark is peeled (not the tree), and it regenerates over the following decade. The tree that contributed the cork in your blocks is still alive and growing.
